Guitar Visualizer ("the App") is developed and operated by Juan Negron ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, why, who processes it, and the choices you have.
The short version: you don't need an account, we never ask for your name, and we don't sell your data or use it to show you ads. We collect anonymous usage data to improve the App, and we measure which of our links brought you to the App.
We use Mixpanel to understand how the App is used: which screens are opened, which features are used (for example scales, chords, the microphone, the language chosen), session length, and similar interactions. Each event comes with technical details such as the app version, the operating system and its version, the device type, and your language and region settings. Events are tied to a random identifier created by the App, not to your name or contact details. Our analytics provider may derive an approximate location (country or region) from your IP address.
We use AppsFlyer to learn which of our own links brought a new user to the App (for example a link shared by a creator we work with), so we can see what works and pay our partners fairly. AppsFlyer receives your IP address, your device model and operating system version, an identifier specific to our app (on iPhone, the "identifier for vendor"), and events such as starting a free trial or a subscription. We run AppsFlyer in a privacy-preserving mode: it does not collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iPhone, Advertising ID on Android), we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use ad networks.
Subscriptions are sold by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), who process your payment. We never see or store your card or payment details. We use RevenueCat to know whether you have an active subscription. RevenueCat receives a random customer identifier, your purchase history for the App (product, price, store country, dates), basic device information (including an app-specific device identifier and IP address), and a few settings we attach to it: the date you installed the App, your app language, the answers you gave in the onboarding questions, and, if you came through a partner's link, that partner's code.
If you send us feedback from the App, we receive your message and anything you choose to include in it (for example your email address, if you want a reply), together with the app version, your platform and its version, your app language, and where in the App you opened the form. Feedback is delivered to us through Formspree. If you write to us by email instead, we receive your email address and message.
The note recognition feature uses your microphone only while you have it switched on. The sound is analyzed on your device, in real time, to find the notes you play. It is never recorded, stored, or sent to us or anyone else. You can deny or withdraw microphone permission at any time in your device's settings; the rest of the App keeps working.
Your settings (language, note names, display options), saved chord progressions and scales, and your practice streak are stored on your device. They are not sent to us.
The App downloads a small settings file from our website (guitarvisualizerapp.com). Like any website, our hosting provider may keep short-lived logs of these requests, including IP addresses, for security and reliability.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share information only with the service providers that run parts of the App for us, under their own privacy terms: Mixpanel (analytics), AppsFlyer (install attribution), RevenueCat (subscription status), Formspree (feedback delivery), Vercel (website hosting), and Apple and Google (app distribution and payments). We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, our users, or others.
We keep information only as long as it is needed for the purposes above, after which it is deleted or kept in a form that no longer relates to an individual device. Feedback messages are kept as long as needed to handle them. Subscription records are kept as long as required for accounting and legal purposes.
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Depending on where you live (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent. Because we don't know who you are from the App's data alone, we may ask for details that help us find it, such as the email you wrote to us from, or your app's subscription receipt. You can also:
If you are in the EEA or the UK, we process information on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing and improving the App and measuring our marketing, to perform our agreement with you (your subscription), and, where required, your consent. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
We and our service providers are mainly located in the United States, so your information may be processed outside the country where you live. Where required, our providers use recognized safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
All data is sent using encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and we limit access to it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we will also make reasonable efforts to tell you, for example in the App.
